Safeguarding Adults Week 2023 - Schedule of Events

Safeguarding Adults Week 2024 will be running from Monday 18 November to Friday 22 November 2024. The theme for this year's event is "Working In Partnership". 

Safeguarding Adults Week runs annually and is promoted and supported by the Ann Craft Trust (opens new window). This is a time for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. The aim is to highlight key safeguarding issues, start conversations and raise awareness of safeguarding best practice. Gateshead Safeguarding Adults Board and Gateshead Safeguarding Children Partnership and are joining together during the national adults Safeguarding Week 2024, to raise awareness about safeguarding both children and adults and showing the importance of "safeguarding being everyone's business".

Safeguarding children, young people, adults and families remains a priority for all of us. Help us to make our first joint Safeguarding Week a success by celebrating and sharing good practice, and raising awareness of the services you provide to protect and support all people in Gateshead.

  • Monday: Look, Listen, ask - Developing Professional Curiosity  
  • Tuesday: Working in partnership: How to work effectively with the people you support
  • Wednesday: Establishing Professional Boundaries 
  • Thursday: Recognising exploitation: The ladder of criminality
  • Friday: Professional and Organisational Learning

Gateshead Safeguarding Adults Board has organised a programme of events which will be running during Safeguarding Week:

If you have any questions or queries regarding the events please email the Board Business Unit at Places will be offered on a first come first served basis, and links to Teams sessions will be send out a week before the event. Please note Ann Craft Trust will provide links to their sessions.

SPOT Suicide prevention Overview Tutorial

  • To understand the prevalence and impact of suicide
  • To explore the language, and the challenges, when talking openly about suicide
  • To recognise the 'signs' that may indicate someone is having thoughts of suicide
  • To consider how we can all contribute to a suicide safer community

Recognising Exploitation: The Ladder of criminality

Come along to this interactive event to explore the concept of Self-Neglect, what leads to people's apparent self-neglect and when we can accept this as a lifestyle choice or when we need to use our professional curiosity to explore this further.
